Donna Latham - Middle School/9th Grade History and Geography

Donna Latham

CCS is excited to welcome Donna Latham for the 2010-11 school year. Mrs. Latham comes to CCS from the Cheatham County School System where she has taught 8th grade history for the last 14 years. She graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1994 with a Bachelors degree in History and a minor in Geography. She also received her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from APSU in 1999. She is certified to teach elementary grades 1-8 and History and Geography for grades 7-12.

She has been married to her husband, Jimmy, for 15 years. He is a nurse anesthesist for Anesthesia Medical Group in Nashville. She and Jimmy have two beautiful children Macy (8) and Griffin (7) who will attend CCS with her.

She and her family are active members at Joelton church of Christ, where Jimmy serves as a deacon. Some of their service ministries include Little Lamb's Bible Time, VBS, Life Group, fishing tournament, and food coordination. In her spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking, gardening, photography, and spending time with friends. She has also led student travel in Europe and hopes to do it again in the future.

Mrs. Latham states that she cannot wait to start teaching at CCS and will teach each student the way she would want her own children to be taught. She states, “The ultimate goal of my Christian walk is to be as Christ-like as possible, and to bring as many people to Him as I can. I believe Christ brought a message of love and forgiveness, as well as one of perserverence and discipline. I hope to show my students that His way is far better than anything the world has to offer. I desire to teach teens that have reached the age where worldly things are becoming extremely attractive. Through Biblical teaching and my own personal example, I want my teens to see the joy that comes from doing God's will and know the happiness of a servant heart.”

She continues, "History is full of examples of how moral decay can lead to physical and spiritual suffering. It also shows us that when we follow God's plan, we can prosper both individually and as a society. I hope to use these examples in guiding my students to learn from past mistakes in order to secure a bright future."
