CCS is excited to expand the number of special area teachers for 2010-11. Mrs. Travis will continue teaching Art and P.E., and Mrs. Norris (5th) is moving to Music and Spanish. As our enrollment grows over the next few years, we anticipate hiring additional special area teachers so each can focus on one area of expertise. We are thankful for the multi-talented faculty the Lord has provided us!
The move of Mrs. Norris opened a 5th grade position. Mrs. Shepler, current middle school teacher, will slide into that slot. Mrs. Shepler is excited to have the opportunity to work in upper elementary. I so appreciate the spirit of, "Use me where you need me." What a blessing to have such servant-minded teachers.
Likewise, Mrs. Dee Anderson is needed and is willing to move from middle school to our Integrated class that serves students with autism. We will have two lead teachers, one to focus on work with young students and one to focus on work with older students. With the help of two full-time aides and part-time aides, these children with autism will have a Christian education opportunity.
The shifts of Mrs. Dee and Mrs. Shepler from middle school opened the slots for the two new hires in middle school. My goal for any new hires was to find 7th-12th grade certified teachers. I am looking to the future as we are adding a grade each year until we have a K-12 school. Mrs. Lisa Little has accepted one slot and Mrs. Latham has accepted the other. Please see the "New Faculty" update for more information about these ladies.
In Christian education, enrollment dictates many decisions. As our middle and high school (9th grade) numbers increase, my goal is to hire additional 9-12 certified teachers in math and language arts. Please pray for the families that are considering CCS and for the teacher prospects who want to teach in a Christian environment. My recruiting trips have given me great contacts to highly qualified and motivated Christian teachers. Families are taking tours on a regular basis to consider our Christian education option. I know the Lord will provide the students and the teachers that CCS needs.
We are sad to say farewell to Mrs. Robison and Mrs. Henegar. Mrs. Robison is returning to the homeschooling lifestyle she loves and which works well with her family. Mrs. Henegar will enjoy being a full-time mother to her two boys. We appreciate all they have done for CCS and wish them well!
