The role of a school counselor is vital to the growth of a successful school. The American School Counselor Association has set goals for school counselors to focus on the areas of academics, careers, and social/personal development. A school counselor is an advocate for parents, students, teachers, community members, and administrators. The school counseling center is a safe haven for students to have a chance to express their thoughts and feelings.
Some of the services offered at CCS include:
- Individual Counseling–Students may meet with the school counselor for a one-on-one visit in the counselor’s office during school hours. The students may see the counselor for personal/social, academic, and career concerns.
- Group Counseling–Different counseling services are offered throughout the school year. These may include friendship, military support, organizational, etc.
- School Counseling Presentations–These include classroom presentations, teacher presentations, parent presentations, Senior orientation, high school orientation, sixth grade orientation, high school registration, and ACT preparation workshops.
- Character Education presentations to students in grades K-12.
