September News From Principal Amanda Binkley

Welcome back parents and students! What an exciting year for CCS! We are proudly serving 270 students this school year! We are also excited to be welcoming our 5th graduating class for their Senior year! We are very proud of our alumni who have all just recently started their adventures into their next phase of life. We have seven students who are starting their Freshman year at Christian universities. We see them on campus often. Once a Centurion, always a Centurion!

We are pleased to release the results of last year’s ACT Aspire. Individual student reports should have come home with your child in their back to school packet if they were with us in grades 3-10 last year. Our overall composite scores were above the national average in all grades. These scores continue to reinforce what our students are doing in their classrooms on a daily basis. We are excited to announce that we will be renewing our ACT Prep course through John Baylor Prep, now known as On to College for students in grades 7-12. Students can go to ontocollege.com and use their school email and the password actprep2018 to access the course material. We are also excited to announce that we will be hosting STEM and ELA intervention groups as part of our Advisory program to assist students who may need some extra support in their ACT prep. We always want to provide our students with the tools they need to access their college and career pursuits.

This is certainly a busy time of year with school starting and activities resuming. Upper School students will begin clubs this month. Clubs will meet twice a month during Advisory. We encourage every student to participate in one of our clubs. Some of the clubs available this year will be Ping Pong Diplomacy, Student Government, Video Production, Proverbs 31 Girls, and Craft Club. Many clubs will also meet before or after school on designated days. We will also be kicking off our Student Government Association this month. Many of our students prepared and gave speeches and organized their campaigns to run in effort to help with planning for an amazing school year.

CCS will host our third annual Grandparents Day on Friday, September 8th. We would like to invite all of our grandparents to join us for chapel at 8:00, followed by breakfast and pictures in the cafeteria.

We would like to remind Upper School parents that personal technology devices are required this year for grades 7-12. All students should have completed their digital driver’s license by September 5th. New students are receiving information about this from Mr. Johnson. We are also pleased to announce that we continue to have CCS Students enrolled in Dual Enrollment classes with APSU. Sophomores and Juniors, please consider taking the ACT this year so that you can pre-qualify for enrollment in these classes.

We hope that CCS will be a blessing to all of our families this school year, whether you have been with us for years or have just joined our family. May God continue to bless our school and use us to glorify His kingdom.

Thank You,

Amanda Binkley
CCS Principal
