Penny Crawford Atwell has been teaching at Clarksville Christian School for seven years. She is from Baytown, Texas, and received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Houston, and has received certification from ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). After graduating college, Penny married Kentucky native Bobby Atwell on the 10th of June, 1989, and they began serving our nation in the Army. In more than 20 years of service, the Atwells have lived in Alabama twice, Germany, Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia and now Tennessee.
While living in Colorado, Penny taught preschool, 1st, a 3rd/4th split and 4th grade at Pikes Peak Christian School. After their assignment in Colorado, Penny continued to substitute teach at her children’s’ elementary school. While teaching, she worked as a media specialist in North Carolina and with Autistic and special needs children in Virginia. Penny states she is extremely excited to be working at Clarksville Christian School and returning to Christian education. Bobby and Penny have two children, Austin and Payton. The Atwells are members of the Church of Christ at Trenton Crossing.
Penny’s philosophy of Christian education is as follows: “I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and that He gave His son as the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have hope of eternal life. As an educator, I am able to show others Christ through our Bible-based curriculum and by my actions. I enjoy being able to talk about Jesus freely with students and parents and to help students build a closer, stronger relationship with God.”
